Screen Shots On Your PC

Ask and you shall receive! I know only too well that RELATIONSHIPS ARE EVERYTHING and I'm forever grateful for my relationships. It's through relationships that my gaps get filled and questions answered. 

So one of my primary business relationships gave me the word on taking screen shots on a PC. I was on  the  phone with Toby Taniguchi the VP of Store Operations at KTA Superstores on the Big Island of Hawaii. I should have known that Toby, would have the answer to doing screen shots on a PC. Toby is a PC tech wiz who almost always has the answers for my tech challenged mind. (Being as limited as I am by my passion for the Macintosh computer!)

So here it is:

1. Hold down the SHIFT key and the PRINTSCREEN (PRNSCR) key at the same time.
2. There will not be an indication or sound to let you know that the pic took, but it did. It is stored on your clipboard.
3. Open MS Word or a photo edit program and PASTE it into the document.
4. Crop the image and SAVE to your desktop.
5. Place it into your screen saver file and you're done!!

In Honor of Mother

Of all things most remarkable, I wonder at the word 'mother'. In every language it's the same... a mother is a mother forever. No matter where I go or what I do, no matter what my age or how far I wander the earth in my work and travels there is forever and there always will be only one mother.  

My mother will be 91 on June 13th and I am going to join her for a week to celebrate this wonderful event. I feel so blessed that she is still here on the planet and healthy. We intend to play and celebrate our relationship for an entire week.

My mother always nurtured my creativity. And when I had a special invisible friend for all those younger years, my mom fed and bathed him and made room for him to sit beside me in the car when we went somewhere together.

A quote by Alice Walker seemed to say it so well. "And so our mothers and grandmothers have, more often than not anonymously, handed on the creative spark, the seed of the flower they themselves never hoped to see -- like a sealed letter they could not plainly read."

So as I take off bound for Oregon to see my mother today, this week I celebrate her life and her love.

I Love U Australia!

It has been another wonderful week of friendship and connections. Lynne and I are so excited because our Aussie family is expanding exponentially! Thank you! It is a joy to connect with all of you! My Hawaiian family knows that to someone like me from Hawaii, family is everything. The word for family in Hawaiian is OHANA and I put it in caps to  show how important that word is in our culture.

In the video titled Lilo and Stitch (for all you moms and dads who watched it with your children) they had a saying which captures the feeling of ohana for us. "Ohana is family with no one left out!"

Lynne and I love the feeling of having our Australian Ohana expand. The connections have been more than magical. They have been enriching and nurturing, candid, genuine and authentic, warm and empowering, elevating and inspiring... and we have shared much laughter together during our time together.

As usual, pictures can sometimes express so much more than words. In this case I believe the words augment the images and vice versa. 

To all of you in our extended ohana, please share your thoughts with us. I would appreciate your thoughts, feedback, questions or insights about our time together and the work that you and I are engaged in.

This is a personal note to each of you from the Women in Leadership program and from the Catholic Women in Leadership program. Take care of your MMP, stretch your zone and achieve those goals...

Kona Chocolate Festival - A Night To Remember!

  It started on Tuesday with events throughout Kailua-Kona and culminated at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort... I like to call it Sheraton By the Sea because this magnificent hotel is surrounded on 3 sides by the ocean. 

For me the Saturday night event is locked into feelings and images and I thought that the best way to share was by letting the images speak for themselves through a dash of color and faces.

The evening was all about relationships... old friends and new friends connecting as well as lots and lots of chocolate. It came in every form and dripped from fountains where you could dunk your strawberries and bananas!

For those of you from far away places who have been to Kailua-Kona and to all of our Australian friends... KONA CALLS! May the magic of Kona live forever in your hearts! We await your return to our island in the sea!

For those of you who have not experienced the magic of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, our Hawaiian music will touch your heart and we will sing you here!

We ended the evening at Huggos - Our home away from home with the beautiful greeting of our waitress....

Happy Holidays!

Friends,
I am leaving for an extended 5 week vacation for the holidays. I'll be visiting family and friends and then taking my mother to Victoria Canada for a few weeks . We lost Dad last year and mom is now alone so I thought a special mother-daughter foray into Vancouver and Victoria would be fun for both of us. At this time and in this season, it is back to basics for me...loved ones and the spirit of the spirit of Christmas shared with those who are closest to the heart.

Then I'll close the year with my usual end of the year ritual. I spend my birthday on December 30th reflecting on the past year. And then I set my goals for the new year on the 31st of December and January 1st. By January 7th I'll be back 'on the blog' to pick up where we have left off.

Have a wonderful holiday season. Enjoy your family and friends, and may it be the best and happiest holiday you have ever had.
